Robert Fawcett was one of the twelve Famous Artists that set the stage for the Time and Place for Norman Adams to come along and do what has not been done before in art, music or sports. In the same way Gustav Klimt -- probably more than any other single artist -- influenced most illustrators with their styles and compositions, so too: more than any other artist Robert Fawcett influenced Norman Adams. Norman Adams met him only once. It was at an Illustrators Society function. Norman was just starting off in the business and Fawcet was a huge legend who came up to the shy neophyte Norman Adams and introduced himself. To Norman Adams he was like most of the other illustrators he would get to know who enjoyed what they did so much that they never considered doing illustrations as being work. But perhaps more than anyone else, even though he only met him once, Robert Fawcett was one of the nicest and kindest individuals that Norman Adams has ever met. |
